Whistler Blackcomb is excited to announce a multi-year renewal of its relationship with TELUS, securing a partnership between the two brands through to 2018. As the preferred wireless, Internet and television services provider of Whistler Blackcomb, this sponsorship will extend a number of benefits to guests, improving the already award winning guest experience at Whistler Blackcomb.
“TELUS’ ability to provide a full suite of superior technical solutions, paired with their dedication to community initiatives, makes them an excellent choice as our exclusive telecommunications provider,” says Dave Brownlie, President and COO at Whistler Blackcomb. “Through our partnership with TELUS, Whistler Blackcomb is pleased to offer our guests free Wi-Fi and new digital information display initiatives. We couldn’t be happier to be renewing and improving upon our long-standing partnership with TELUS.”
Benefits of the partnership for Whistler Blackcomb guests include:
- Free TELUS Wi-Fi at all on-mountain restaurants, the Garibaldi Lift Co. (GLC), Merlin’s Bar and Grill, The Wizard Grill and Dusty’s Bar and BBQ. In addition, free TELUS Wi-Fi is available at on-mountain viewing locations at the Peak, Symphony and 7th Heaven.
- New on-mountain digital information displays on flat-screen TV monitors bringing real-time mountain information to Whistler Blackcomb guests.
- A new version of the Whistler Blackcomb Live mobile app, powered by TELUS, will be released this fall allowing guests to track their runs with GPS and share and connect with others. The app also provides live condition reports and webcam feeds to ensure a memorable mountain experience.
“The TELUS team is thrilled to extend our longstanding commitment to Whistler Blackcomb as their premier partner and exclusive telecommunications provider. As always, we are excited to draw upon the power of TELUS technology and the strength of our network to make the guest experience as memorable and interactive as possible,” says Andrea Goertz, TELUS Senior Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives & Communications. “As important as these investments in technology and infrastructure are, our commitment to local communities is very near and dear to our hearts, and this partnership provides us with the opportunity to ‘give where we live’ and work alongside the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation to make a real difference in lives of residents of the Sea to Sky Corridor.”
The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation is dedicated to supporting registered non-profit organizations whose activities benefit residents of the Sea to Sky Corridor. Over the next seven years, TELUS will direct more than $900,000 to the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation through their partnership with Whistler Blackcomb and by sponsoring Whistler Blackcomb Foundation events such as the TELUS Winter Classic and the TELUS Golf Classic.
“We are extremely grateful for the continued support of TELUS,” says Mei McCurdy, Executive Director of the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation. “We love working with a company who truly embodies their motto ‘give where we live’. We would not be able to help so many amazing charities without TELUS’ involvement and I look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
