(January 30, 2015) Ottawa, ON –The Canada Games have announced Shaw Communications Inc. as their newest long-term National Partner.
As Canada’s leading network and content experience company, Shaw has entered into a three-Games National Partnership with the Canada Games Council. The partnership will see Shaw become the Official Telecommunications Provider and a major partner for the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C., the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Man., and the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta.

Shaw will provide cash and in-kind support, and will leverage its leading Internet and telecommunications services to keep The Canada Games connected. Shaw will also provide spectators and athletes with complementary guest access to its Shaw Go WiFi network throughout the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George. Shaw Go WiFi is Canada’s largest WiFi network, with over 55,000 hotspots from Victoria to Sault Ste. Marie.

The announcement comes at an important time when the Canada Games are celebrating individual Games partners, but are also continuing to leverage long-term sponsorships and multiple Games partnerships. With this announcement, the roster of National Partners increases to thirteen. With the 2015 Canada Games Opening Ceremonies to start the 2015 Canada Games in Prince George BC on February 13th , national partners will enjoy the continuity of national rights and benefits in addition to the individual Canada Games rights and benefits.
